About Caitlin

About

Caitlin is a qualified Rebirthing Breathwork, practitioner living on Ngunnawal Country, Kamberri (Canberra). Using a technique of Conscious Connected Breathwork (Breathwork) Caitlin is recognised by the Australian Breathwork Association (ABA). Her work is focused on supporting clients to transmute aspects of their human experience and release that which holds them back from discovering their true selves through embodied practice. Caitlin's work is trauma informed with a strong focus on holding a space of non-judgement for the client to explore their inner landscape.

Caitlin is a member of the ABA  and International Breathwork Foundation, and her  passion for ethics, integrity, andher belief in the powerful healing qualities of Breathwork, brings her to serve as a member of the ABA Committee.

Having spent over a decade turning inwards, searching for a deeper relationship with herself, and the world around her, Caitlin came to breathwork from a years-long experience of injury, chronic pain, and trauma. These experiences opened a doorway into a greater knowing and the transformation of her life and consciousness.

Caitlin's journey with pain draw her to sanskrit practices, including Iyengar yoga, where she cultivated an awareness of the connection between the emotional and physical bodies. In 2019, she began practicing Sahaj Yoga meditation through which she discovered the power of pranayama breathing and non-ordinary states of consciousness. Through her meditation practice, Caitlin experienced safety, gratitude, and joy within my body for the first time. This led her to try Breathwork, and within the first few sessions, Caitlin recognised the powerful healing potential of the practice, beyone her previous experience. This drew her to undertake her training as a certified Breathwork Practitioner in 2020.

Caitlin brings the full breadth of her life experience to her work as a practitioner. Having obtained a degree from the Australian National University (ANU), Caitlin spent fifteen years working in human-centered service roles. Through her personal journey, Caitlin became inspired to apply her experience more in service to the growth and transformation of others through Breathwork.

Caitlin is passionate about embracing diversity and inclusion in her work and guiding individuals towards growth, and the unfolding of their true selves. She draws inspiration and energy from the natural world and invokes the wisdom of the natural environment within her practice as a practitioner.

History of Concious Connected Breathwork

How did Rebirthing Breathwork come to be practiced?

Conscious Connected Breathwork is a transformative therapeutic practice that draws inspiration from ancient Eastern traditions of Pranayama breathing and accessing non-ordinary states of consciousness for self-discovery and healing.

This technique was developed into a contemporary practice during the 1960s and 70s, by individuals like Stanislav Grof and Leonard Orr. Grof, a psychoanalyst of Freudian roots, conducted extensive research in the 1960s, exploring the use of altered states of consciousness as a therapeutic tool. He developed Holotropic Breathwork, a method that combines deep, connected breathing with evocative music and a supportive environment to access the depths of the human psyche. Similarly Leonard Orr, developed the technique into a modern practice of Rebirthing Breathwork in the 1970s, which focuses on the healing potential of conscious connected breathing.

These two practices have been developed into the contemprary practice of CCB (also known as 'Rebirthing Breathwork'), to include the work of Arnold Mindell in Depth Psychology, and trauma informed practices.
